Wayne Laverne Kersey

Wayne L Kersey, an honorable man, passed away on Saturday, October 7th. He was born in Starke, FL on March 3, 1950 to George(Webb) and Iris Kersey. After graduating from Bradford High, Wayne enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served eight years. During this time, he met the love of his life Cheri Burdett. This union produced more loves, with the birth of his daughter Tammy and son Sean. They gave him three beautiful grandchildren; John Wayne, Summer, and Leah Kersey. He is also survived by his brothers Steve (Cecil) of Starke and Buddy (Joe) of Jacksonville along with many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Upon completion of his stint in the Navy he joined the Department of Corrections where he retired after 25 years as a Lieutenant. He also served in the National Guard for 16 years. His favorite things in life were family, hunting, fishing, and inviting friends over for cookouts and games.
