Mr. Edwin “Ed” Lowell Jeffcoat, age 72, of Raiford, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 26, at his home, surrounded by the family he loved. Ed was born on November 4, 1946, in Andalusia, Alabama, to Alba and Imogene Jeffcoat. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor’s degree and began working with the Florida Department of Corrections. His job would relocate him several times before ending up in Union County, FL in the 1970’s. Ed continued to work for the DOC for 35 years until his retirement. He was a cowboy at heart and loved watching westerns, especially “The Duke”, John Wayne. He also had an appreciation for guns and knives, but above all, he loved and cherished his family. They were his world. Ed was a member at the Glen Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Glen St. Mary, FL. He was preceded in death by both parents and his grandson, Austin Norman.
Ed is survived by his son, Joshua (Lynn) Jeffcoat of Raiford, FL; daughter, Kaylee (Jack) Norman of Middleburg, FL; grandchildren, Kanon, Brandon, and Courtney Norman; his brother, Carl (Ann) Jeffcoat of Gulf Breeze, FL; numerous extended family members survive also.
A funeral service to honor the life of Ed will be held on Friday, June 28, at 2:00 pm, at his church, Glen Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Glen St. Mary, FL. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 1:00 pm at the church. Ed will be laid to rest, back home in Andalusia, AL at the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery, on Monday, July 1, at 10:00 am CST. Services will be officiated by Elder Arnold Johns.
