Gene M. Hardin, 70, a native of Lake Butler, Florida, relocated to Maggie Valley, North Carolina in 2006.

Gene (Pops) peacefully left this world on February 19, 2015 with his family by his side.

Gene is survived by his wife, Stephanie Lane Hardin, children, Eric Gene Hardin (Heather), Lynette Hardin Kinner (Billy), Celeste Hardin all of Lake Butler and Becki Riddle (Jason) of Maggie Valley, N.C.
His brothers and sisters, Claudine Gaskins (Freddie) of Maggie Valley, N.C., Dale Hardin (Sue) of Lake Butler, FL., Boone Hardin (Cathy) of Keystone Heights, FL., Sam Hardin of Maggie Valley, N.C., and Kim Atwood of Lake Butler, FL. Gene was a proud Papa to nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews.

Gene retired from Pritchett Trucking after 35 years of loyal service. Gene loved to cook and provided many meals for his family and friends. He also loved working with wood, building many memorable pieces of furniture. He loved to fish and spend precious moments with family and friends. He was known as "Pops" to everyone.

Funeral Services for Mr. Hardin will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Lake Butler Church of God with Rev. Lemuel Lane and Alvin Lane officiating. Burial will take place following funeral services at Crosby Lake Cemetery. Family invites friends for a visitation Monday, February 23, 2015 at Archer Funeral Home. The arrangements are under the care of Archer Funeral Home, Lake Butler. 386-496-2008
